Superchlon 2319S
1. Introduction
SUPERCHLON 2319S is a newly developed product specially introduced into PP primer market, which provide better adhesion for the higher molecular weight compared to other grade. It is also suitable for adhesive, ink and paint application for the good adhesion to ABS, polycarbonate, nylon as well as polypropylene.
2. General properties
Appearance Pale-yellow to light-brown pellet
Odor A little resin odor
Free chlorine None
Good solvents Toluene, Xylene (aromatic hydrocarbons), Cyclohexane,
Methylcyclohexane (alicyclic hydrocarbons)
Aliphatic hydrocarbons (n-hexane etc.), alcohols (IPA,
Butanol etc.), ketones and esters can be used as the diluent.
3. Typical specification
Solid content (%) 100
Chlorine content (%) 18.5 - 20.5
Viscosity (mPa•s at 25°C) 30 - 100
(NV: 20wt%, Toluene / Cyclohexane / IPA = 64 / 33 / 3)
Color number (Gardner) 6 and below
These properties are typical of average lots. Nippon Paper makes no representation that the material in any particular shipment will conform to the listed properties.
Handling Instruction : The solution of this product has a nature to cause viscosity increase, gelling and fine particles in winter season, but in terms of its performance, this will not be a issue if warm up to 40-50°C (104-122°F) again when using.

Technical infomation
4. Coating method
1. Wash PP panel with IPA
2. Apply “Superchlon 2319S” solution to the PP panel (5-10 μm in thickness)
3. Apply base coat paint (10-15 μm in thickness)
4. Apply clear coat paint (two package polyurethane type)
(30-40 μm in thickness)
5. Baking (30 minutes at 80°C)
6. After leaving the coated panel 3 days at room temperature, tested its
performance.
5. Results
Test items Result
Adhesion Excellent
Water immersion resistance Excellent
Boiled water resistance Excellent
Humidity resistance Excellent
Gasoline resistance > 4 hours
* Test methods
(1) Adhesion
On the coated surface, a checkered pattern with 100 squares (1 mm) was cut through the coated layer. Then a cellophane adhesive tape was tightly applied to the checkered pattern. The soaked surface was checked for peeling after the tape was removed at an angle of 180°. This was tried ten times.
(2) Water immersion resistance
After dipping the coated panel in a hot water (40°C) for 240 hours, the coatings were
scratched with X marks through the coated layer. Then a cellophane adhesive tape
was applied to the panel. Afterwards, the tape was peeled off ten times at an angle
of 180°.

(3)Boiled water resistance
After dipping the coated panel in a boiled water (98°C) for 2 hours, a checkered pattern with 100 squares (2 mm) was cut through the coated layer. Then a cellophane adhesive tape was tightly applied to the checkered pattern. Afterwards, the tape was peeled off ten times at an angle of 180°.
(4)Humidity resistance
After the coated plate was left out at 50℃ and under an atmosphere of 98% relative humidity for 240 hours, the coatings were scratched with X marks through the coated layer. Then a cellophane adhesive tape was applied to the panel. Afterwards, the tape was peeled off several times at an angle of 180°.
(5) Gasoline resistance
After dipping the coated panel into regular gasoline, checked the period of time spent the coated edge was peeled off about 1 mm.
